Katrina K, Deepika P back in Ranbir's life

Please share Bookmark and Share

The two actresses will have to learn to co-exist...

It's that time of life when history repeats himself. Just a little while ago, Ranbir Kapoor who was touted to be Casanova, was single and ready to mingle. Deepika Padukone and he broke up, he was linked to Katrina Kaif and suddenly news of his and Nargis Fakhri were doing the rounds. And then nothing!

Now, it - or should we say 'they all'? - all seems to be coming back! Deepika and Ranbir have buried the hatchet, and are even working together in Ayaan Mukherjee's film. And post that we get to hear Kat and Ranbir are an item again! Result: Deepika and Katrina re-enter the Kapoors life in a sort of role reversal.

When Deepika was Ranbir's girlfriend, Katrina was his co-star. This time, Deepika is his co-star and Katrina is allegedly his girlfriend! Wethinks the Kapoor lad's life just got a tad wee interesting all over again.

And as for Ranbir, Deepika and Katrina fans, we're sure they're waiting to see in which way the wind blows, and which spark will go off where. In matters of the heart and showbiz, one can never tell...

Katrina Kaif- Ranbir Kapoor are back together

Katrina Kaif- Ranbir Kapoor are back together
Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor

It's a love story that was bound to be rekindled. Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are back together, as clearly there's unfinished business between them.

They split up because Kat was not ready to look the other way while he played the field with Nargis Fakhri and Anushka Sharma, or accept his "I love you, but give me some time" stance. She made it clear that if he wanted to be in a relationship with her, it had to be exclusive. She asked him to choose her and stop playing the Romeo, but it wasn't a choice he was ready to make. He asked her to be patient and promised that he would change, but Kat wasn't ready to wait in the sidelines while he courted other ladies.

Walking away was the hardest thing she ever did, but Kat knew they had something special and when Ranbir realised that someday, they'd get back together. They began anew last month, and this time are more serious than ever.

The last time they were together, it was under a cloud of broken relationships with Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan. Now they've both been single for a considerable amount of time. Earlier this month, they were seen bonding in Macau while there for an awards show. News of the time they spent together at a private party filtered into Mumbai much before they did. This time they don't have a reason to hide their relationship. Happily ever after? Only time will tell.

Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif to reunite?

Please share Bookmark and Share

Keeping their past aside, ex-flames Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are expected to perform at the former's World Tour which was earlier called off after their high-profile break-up. The Kapoor boy had backed out from the tour saying he had no stage songs to perform, reported Mumbai Mirror.

Now that the actor has 'rocked' in certain memorable songs, the Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani co-stars are expected to topline the World Tour scheduled in UK, US and Canada in August this year.

"He (Ranbir) has no issues about Katrina's inclusion. Katrina has given her consent," a member of the tour production team told the tabloid.

Katrina's friend, too, confirmed to the daily that she is indeed working out her dates to accompany her former beau.

So will the duo perform together as well? "Now that remains to be seen. Besides, we do not know how the performances are being planned, whether Ranbir and Katrina will perform together or not," Kat's friend told the tabloid.

Some time back, Katrina had opted out of Ayan Mukerji's next starring Ranbir and was replaced by Deepika, who has now made peace with the her ex-boyfriend.

Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra will also apparently join the tour, says the tabloid. Will old flames re-ignite?

Ranbir-Katrina stage a comeback

You know that young, giddy-headed lovers have matured, when they start behaving cordially with each other after their high-profile parting.

When Ranbir and Katrina's split early last year, it was the former's much hyped World Tour that suffered the worst collateral damage. Ranbir called off the tour, saying he had no stage songs. And with the two former lovers refusing to work together, Katrina was struck off from the lineup, even though she had nudged out Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor from the tour.

Well, a lot of water has flown under the bridge. And as a show of maturity both Katrina and Ranbir have decided to work together professionally again and will topline the World Tour lineup. Katrina 's friend has confirmed the developments, adding that she is indeed working out her dates to accompany her former boyfriend to the UK, US and Canada in August this year.

As for Ranbir, a member of the tour production team told Mumbai Mirror, "He has no issues about Katrina's inclusion. Katrina has given her consent."

But will she be comfortable on stage with Ranbir? "Now that remains to be seen," says her friend. "Besides, we do not know how the performances are being planned, whether Ranbir and Katrina will perform together or not."

Katrina's decision to join Ranbir- in whatever capacity- is bound to raise eyebrows.

Readers may recall, not too long ago the actress had opted out of Ayan Mukerji's film starring Ranbir.

This rapprochement may have been a result of Ranbir's recent moves to make peace with his ex-es and their current boyfriends. It took him a while to make amends with Deepika, but he is now doing a film with her, the same Ayan project which Katrina refused. He has even spotted bonding with Deepika's current flame Sidhartha Mallya.

Ranbir, Nargis are no more a couple!

Ranbir, Nargis are no more a couple!

It seems post "Rockstar", Pakistani-American model Nargis Fakhri and Ranbir Kapoor are no more interested in being perceived as a couple.

On Wednesday night at a party at the Grand Hyatt thrown by a leading celebrity-management company KWAN, Nargis chose to be accompanied by a female friend, while Ranbir came with his father Rishi Kapoor.

Throughout the evening Ranbir and Nargis were in separate sections of the party.

"Nargis and Ranbir hardly spoke to one another. This was an important evening for Nargis, as it was her first appearance independent of the 'Rockstar' events. And she made it clear that she was there at the party to meet the who's who of the entertainment industry, something that she had not been allowed to do during the shooting and publicity of 'Rockstar'," said a source from the party.

Director Imtiaz Ali kept Nargis away from the prying eyes of shutterbugs and allowed her to interact with media only during the pre-release promotional events of "Rockstar".

The party was her first chance to meet the Bollywood and she made the best of it.

According the source, Nargis was at her charming best at the party trying her best to mingle with the guests -- many of whom she didn't know -- enjoying her maiden appearance post "Rockstar", leaving behind the team that she had been fastened to for the past one year, and that included Ranbir.

"This was clearly Nargis's evening. She made herself popular that evening, spoke to a lot of people in the industry including, yes, Deepika Padukone, with whom she got along famously. She was clearly in her elements with everyone, including Rana Daggubati and Genelia D'Souza who had flown in specially for the party from Hyderabad where they're shooting together for a Telugu film," said a source from Kwan.

"Nargis was warm and inquisitive, eager to make the best of her first appearance outside the sheltered, protective environment of the 'Rockstar' team. And she blossomed under all the attention that she effortlessly got that evening," the source added

Ranbir unites Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone

Please share Bookmark and Share

It is widely known that Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone cannot see eye to eye. But for rockstar Ranbir, it looks like the two women were ready to fine-tune their personal equations. Both the actresses were seen under the same roof after a long while, as Ranbir arranged an exclusive screening of his film Rockstar for his friends from the industry.Says an eye-witness, "Deepika, Katrina and even Anushka were at the film's screening at Yashraj over the weekend. Ranbir was keen that all his closest friends watch it." Apparently, Deepika and Anushka were seen chatting up and having a good time, while Katrina preferred keeping to herself. However, there is little doubt that Kat was there to watch the film.Adds the source, "For Ranbir, at the moment, what's most important is to know what people think of the film."He has always maintained a very cordial relationship with his exes. Deepika recently invited him for her housewarming party as well."As far as Katrina goes, she is someone whose opinion would matter to him as well. There were points during the film where onlookers caught Deepika crying."However, Dippy and Kat apparently made sure they didn't cross paths and Anushka acted as the buffer."Anushka doesn't really have any history with Ranbir so she was comfortable. The tension between the other two girls was reduced.""Ranbir, Imtiaz and their gang headed back to choreographer Ahmed Khan's house to party through the night, but the girls chose to stay away. They left the venue in their respective cars post the screening."

Kat filming with Salman and SRK ..What Are other Top Actors Working On?

Please share Bookmark and Share

Gone are the days when top actors would sign on dozens of films and then work overtime, in relentless day and night shifts (sometimes across countries and continents) to finish them.

Spurred by Aamir Khan's 'one film at a time' formula, most actors are now doing limited work; the direct result of which is that it has put interest back into their movies.

Today, it's not uncommon to await an Aamir or a Shah Rukh Khan film excitedly. Here's a quick look at what the top actors are working on...

Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerji in Dhuan
Aamir Khan in Dhuan

Any Aamir movie, be it featuring him as an actor or a producer, comes with expectations. He often lives with the look of his films and that creates extra curiosity among fans.

They say his marketing strategies begin even before the idea of a film is born. That as it may, in Reema Kagti's Dhuan (tentative title) Aamir gets into the cop act, a la Sarfarosh.

Salman Khan in Ek Tha Tiger

Poster of Ek Tha Tiger
Once, Salman's films used to flop miserably but that hardly affected his fame. However, he's currently enjoying the best phase of his life as his films continue to come up trumps.

His first film with the Yash Raj banner, Ek Tha Tiger is creating much buzz. Looks like it's another Eid blockbuster.

Shah Rukh Khan in Don 2 and Yash Chopra's Next

Shah Rukh Khan in Don 2
When SRK and Yash Chopra come together, expect more than just Swiss Alps and mustard fields. After the so-so Ra.one, his next with the master of romance shall silence his critics.

Then, of course, there's Don 2 by the formidable Farhan Akhtar.

Hrithik Roshan in Agneepath

Hrithik Roshan in Agneepath
Let it be said that it is impossible for any modern-day actor to play the raging Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in Agneepath. Amitabh Bachchan owned that ro#8804 he made it among his career-defining performances.

It would be a tough act to follow and Hrithik knows that.

Amitabh Bachchan in The Great Gatsby

Amitabh Bachchan
Big B's first ever Hollywood film and fans are waiting with bated breath. But as the excitement wears off, one realises it's just a minor role – that of a gambler, a territory the aging superstar is familiar with (think The Great Gambler).

Sanjay Dutt in Agneepath

Sanjay Dutt in Agneepath
Forget Bigg Boss 5, Baba looks sufficiently evil in the Agneepath trailers. For those still under the spell of the Munnabhai series, it would be difficult to accept the Gandhian Munna as a baddie (and baldie).

Ranbir Kapoor in Barfee

Ranbir Kapoor and Illeana in Barfee
IRockstar is all about sound, Anurag Basu's Barfee is devoid of any; Ranbir is its deaf and mute hero. The actor teams up with Anjaana Anjaani co-star Priyanka Chopra who plays a mentally-challenged girl. Shades of Koshish?

Imran Khan in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola

Imran Khan
Most definitely, Vishal Bhardwaj's next film will do to Imran's career what Kaminey did to Shahid Kapoor's.

This looks like a perfect opportunity for Imran to break away from his commercial rom-com hero image, toward a more realistic form of cinema that Bhardwaj represents.

Imran has not Vishal, but Ajay Devgn to thank, who walked out of the film at the last minute.

Ajay Devgn in Golmaal 4

Ajay Devgn
From an intense, action hero to doing light-hearted comedies, Ajay has come a long way. It would be nice to see him reprise Gopal in Rohit Shetty's Golmaal 4, his next project alongside Bol Bachchan.

Akshay Kumar in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2

Akshay Kumar in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2
Desi Boyz looks no different from Garam Masala. The real Akshay starrer to watch out for is the sequel to Milan Luthria's crime drama which starred Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi. This could be that elusive movie that Akshay has been hankering for – the game-changer, if one may call it.

Ranbir interview: There's been talk about problems between Katrina Kaif and you. Any truth in it?

Please share Bookmark and Share

T
Ranbir Kapoor
He is undoubtedly one of the most eligible bachelors in the country, but Ranbir Kapoor has something of a reputation of a Casanova and has been romantically linked to almost every female star in the film industry -- Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Nargis Fakri...

But the young actor, who is eagerly awaiting the release of his film Rockstar, says he has his feet firmly planted on the ground and when the time comes, will make the necessary commitment.

In a free-wheeling chat with Sonil DedhiaRockstar Ranbir talks about his film,  the Kapoor legacy, and how he copes with the rumours of his various liaisons.
There is quite a contradiction in the character you play in the trailers. Was there something special that you did to prepare for it?

My character changes over a period of time due to certain circumstances in his life, which is always derived from his love story with Heer (played by Nargis Fakhri). He goes from being this immature college-going bum Janaradhan Jakhar, to being the iconic rock star Jordan. We have put in a lot of hard work with the character and with the look of the character. Not just the superficial physical appearance, but also his inner journey.

I have never known anyone like Janaradhan Jakhar -- a Jat boy from Pitampura in Delhi who in the beginning is a wannabe. I did a lot of preparation for this character. (Director) Imtiaz Ali and I went to Pitampura and stayed there with a Jat family and studied their mannerisms -- the way they talk, walk, converse with their family, how they eat, the kind of clothes they wear. We also went drinking and dancing with the family.

I had to do a lot of work to understand my role. When I become Jordan, I learnt to play the guitar and look like a rock star.

'The audience won't find Ranbir in Rockstar'

Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar
What was it like working with a young and like-minded director like Imtiaz Ali?
Imtiaz is a great filmmaker and beyond that, he is such a great person. I have a deep friendship and connect with him which was useful for the film. He has motivated and inspired all of us.

We did a lot to make this character look believable. The audience won't find Ranbir Kapoor, but they will surely be able to connect to my character and all the credit goes to Imtiaz for this.

The music is the soul of the film. Did you learn anything about it?
I had the opportunity to sit with A R Rahman for the music of the film. We flew to Chennai, to his studio, and it was such an enriching experience. As a person and an artist, it is so magical to see him work.

His passion, dedication, and spontaneity, and the way he works in solitude is just amazing. He is so simple and his approach to music is so pure.

'On the sets, Shammi Kapoor was still a young boy'

Shammi Kapoor in Rockstar
You are the last actor to share the silver screen with Shammi Kapoor...
It was our good fortune that we were making a film called Rockstar and we were privileged to have the original rockstar of Indian cinema and of our country, Shammi Kapoor, in the film.

Imtiaz and I tried really hard to get him on board for this film. He has a cameo but it is a very special one, in which he recognises the musical talent of my character, Janaradhan Jakhar and they share a special bond.

I remember, just a day before the shoot he told me 'my physical condition doesn't allow me to do much and I am really nervous whether I'll be able to remember the dialogues.' I told him not to worry and we would take good care of him. When I hung up the phone, I realised that it was Shammi Kapoor who was trying to get some confidence from me, a newcomer. You can see the humility in him.

On the sets, he was still that young boy who was nervous and anxious and was rehearsing his lines. He was flirting with the assistants and telling us instances of his early days. We are grateful that a man like him left us with so much of love and dignity for this film.

'I don't want to embarrass my parents'

Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar
You are often called a Casanova, a playboy. Does that bother you?
Not at all. I am here for the bigger picture. I know that the audience will like me for my films and the work that I do. An actor's life is attached to these frills. You can't focus too much on it. I can't stand up and contradict everything that is said against me.

I am here to make movies. I want to be India's biggest star and for that I need to really focus on my work. If I do good work, all this will be forgotten. But then, maybe I am not good at my job and that's the reason so much attention is paid to all this.

How do your parents react to this?
My parents have been very supportive and they know how much I love my work. They respect me and the little success that I have achieved so far. I don't want to embarrass my parents. There is a lot of respect that they command in this industry and I don't want to demean that.

I don't take my position for granted in this industry and they have never had any problems with all the rumours. They have never had any bitterness come between us or have voiced their concerns. They know that I am here for the right reason.

'I am being linked with Nargis because I am doing a film with her'

Ranbir Kapoor with Nargis Fakhri in Rockstar
There's been talk about problems between Katrina Kaif and you. Any truth in it?
Katrina is a talented and successful actor and I have been lucky to work with her so early in my career. She is a great friend and I am looking forward to working with her again. Just because I am not working with her now, they have stopped linking me with her and have started linking me with someone else.

And that someone else is Nargis Fakri, your co-star in Rockstar. Rumours also say that you broke up with Katrina because of Nargis...
Yes, I am being linked with Nargis because I am doing a film with her. Just because I dine out and hang around with my co-actor means I am dating her. It is all rubbish. Our lives are not as interesting as it comes out in the newspapers every day. We work really hard and have to make a lot of sacrifices in our personal life.

Do these link-ups affect your working relationship?
We don't have affairs behind closed doors. There is a sense of commitment and a normal relationship that anyone wants to have. As I said, actors are also normal human beings. I am just 29 years old and have been honest with my work. If I am dating anyone I will say it. I have always been very frank about my relationships.
Let's set the record straight. Are you single?
Yes, I am single.

'My mother is very fond of Nargis'

Nargis and Neetu Kapoor
Your mother Neetu Kapoor is very close to Nargis...
Nargis came to this city when she didn't know anyone. She doesn't have any friends or family here and lives alone. My mother is very fond of her. They exercise together and exchange health secrets. My mother is very friendly in nature and she is close to all my friends.

Have you ever thought of marrying an actress?
I can't say anything about that because love can happen any time. It's just that chances of me marrying an actress are high because those are the people who I meet and interact with. Cinema is my world and that's one of the main reasons actors and actresses get married to each other. Usually, beyond films we don't have a real life. But, as they say in this industry, never say never. I won't just take the plunge for the sake of it.

You recently said that you had cheated in a relationship. When did this happen?
We all have moments of immaturity and sometimes can be naive in our relationships but I don't know when it happened. It so happens that sometimes we don't understand the meaning of commitment and how it will affect the other person. You cannot take your partner for granted when you are in a relationship and you learn this with experience. I did it out of carelessness but today I am very mature and value my relationships.

'If you are in a committed relationship, you have to be monogamous'

A still from Rockstar
How difficult is it for an actor to have a love life?
It's as difficult as you want to make it. In life everything is hard and nothing happens magically or organically. One has to make some sacrifices and adjustments, and compromises. When you are in a relationship, you have to take out time even if you don't have it. It's like turning a 24-hour day into a 28-hour day.

You have been quoted as saying that you believe in physical monogamy...
If you are in a committed relationship, you have to be monogamous. Marriage in India is always looked up to and is given the highest regard in our society. Marriage expects that you have certain qualities like commitment and monogamy.

'Shammi Kapoor was afraid he might forget his dialogues'

A still from Rockstar
Is Ranbir Kapoor a changed actor today?
I believe so. I have changed because of the people l have worked with. Right from my directors to my hair stylist, everyone has been instrumental in my growth. I really hope that the drive in me to excel never dies. I never want to feel content as that is one of the best motivating factors to grow.

Do you feel the pressure of the Kapoor mantle and taking it forward?
I don't have a chip on my shoulder but at the same time, I don't take it for granted. I know I have a responsibility. My family has been contributing to Indian cinema for 80 years now but if I have to carry it forward, then I have to carry it with my work. I cannot rest on the accolades my family has received over the years. After three-and-a-half years in the industry, I think I have got rid of the star-son tag. People recognise me for my work. I hope I can contribute to cinema as my family has done for so many years. I also hope my grandchildren be a part of movies (Smiles).
Any plans to revive the R K banner?

I have a burning desire to direct a movie. Currently I am very busy with acting and that's the reason I have not thought about making a movie. I want to make it when the story naturally comes out of me and I don't want to make it because people find it cool.

I also don't want to get into direction when people feel my career is in decline. I am passionate about it and want to make a movie I believe in. I have stories to tell but I haven't found the right story. It can happen in the next couple of years.

'Deepika and I have always been good friends'

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone
You are doing a film with Deepika Padukone?
I'm looking forward to working with Deepika again. We have always been good friends. Ayan Mukherjee's film is a coming-of-age romance, which today's youth can easily relate to and I am really excited about the film.

Will you ever act with Kareena Kapoor?
Yes, why not. Kareena is such a fine talent and she has achieved so much. She is my first cousin and I cannot be romantically paired opposite her but I would love to do a film with her where we play different characters that are not related to each other or romantically linked. We can play brother and sister. If something comes up, I am open to it.

Who do you think is the sexiest actress in Bollywood?
I think everyone is sexy. Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Nargis Fakhri...they all are sexy.

You have to choose one.

I will be selfish as my last film is with Nargis, so I will have to say it is Nargis Fakhri.

Katrina-Ranbir together again for Ajab Prem sequel?

Please share Bookmark and Share

Sequels being the order of the day, it's no surprise that Raj Kumar Santoshi will make a sequel to the immensely-successful 2009 comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. The sequel was supposed to go on the floors immediately after the success of the first film but it was put on hold when leading man Ranbir Kapoor  seemed disinclined to go down the same route.

At that point of time, Ranbir wasn't kicked by the idea of doing sequels. But now that he is doing a sequel to Ayaan Mukerjee's Wake Up Sid , a sequel to Ajab Prem worked out fine too.

According to a source, "Santoshi has been under pressure from his producers Tips to do a sequel. But he has so far shunned sequels, even one to the historic comedy Andaz Apna Apna. Now with all his recent projects going no further than announcement (the Abhishek-Aishwarya rom-com Ladies & Gentlemen) or the first schedule (Power), Santoshi had second thoughts."

Apparently, leading lady Katrina Kaif was mighty kicked by carrying the Ajab Prem story forward.

Says a source, "It is Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani 2 that Katrina has signed up with Santoshi for, and not the Jackky Bhagnani film, as reported, which was never offered to Katrina."

When contacted Santoshi evaded from making a comment on the Ajab Prem sequel but fumed at the mention of the reported Rs 20 crores that was offered to Katrina to do a film opposite Bhagnani.

"I don't know where such baseless stories come from. I've never offered Katrina that film. She's a friend, and I know exactly what to make with her next," says the irate director.

Continues the director, "Who pays that kind of ridiculous money to a leading lady? Nothing is decided yet about the film with Jackky Bhagnani and there's no question of Katrina being paired with him."

When contacted, Katrina says, "I was never offered that other project. I'd love to do another film with Santoshiji. I had a ball shooting for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. I had suggested a sequel even when it was released."
