Fantastic working with Katrina: Salman

Please share Bookmark and Share

Salman Khan last worked with rumoured ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif in 2008 for Subhash Ghai’s Yuvvraaj. After almost five years, the duo is now working on another romantic film — Ek Tha Tiger. Bring up their pairing and Salman says, “It has been fantastic working with Katrina after such a long time.”

At the launch of History Channel’s new show History Har Din in the city on Friday, the actor, who is the face of the channel, goes on to joke about his relationship with his co-star in his inimitable style. “I’m working with Katrina, so that’s history been created right there,” he says, in jest.

Though both the actors have recently returned to the country after completing a long shooting schedule of the Kabir Khan film in Cuba, Salman still has some patchwork pending. “It’s a romantic movie, but it has lots of action and I have a few days of work left,” he says, adding that he would love to revisit Cuba soon. “It’s a fantastic place to shoot at. I went to many places during my stay and I would love to go back for leisure.”

Meanwhile, he is also preparing to begin work on Dabangg 2, the sequel to his 2010 box-office hit. “I am going to start shooting for that on March 9,” says the actor, who will be directed by older brother Arbaaz Khan this time.

Sonakshi Sinha will reprise her role as Salman’s love interest in the film, and Prakash Raj has been roped in to play the villain.

Katrina, Deepika fight over Rajinikanth

Please share Bookmark and Share

While Deepika may have burnt some bridges accepting Rajinikanth's Kochadaiyaan and walking out of Ramesh Taurani's 'Race 2', it's Katrina Kaif who seems to be having the last laugh!

Apparently, people close to her insist that it was she who was first offered the part opposite Rajinikanth by Soundarya in the film. It's only when she couldn't do it due to prior commitmments that the movie was offered to Deepika, who lapped up the opportunity with both her hands.

It is being said that Katrina couldn't do the film because she had already allotted dates to a Shah Rukh Khan film. On the other hand, sources close to Deepika express that it was Deepika who was always the first choice. The actress was to star in Rajinikanth starrer Rana. When that didn't take off, she was immediately offered the much in the offing Kochadaiyaan.

This has only accentuated the war between these Bollywood beauties. Deepika Padukone is known to have split with Ranbir Kapoor because of his closeness to Katrina Kaif. Talks have it that the Kapoor boy seems to have mended his relations with both his co-stars, who are now fighting over who was Rajni's first choice.

Well, guess neither have nothing to lose what with an SRK film for Kat and a Rajni-starrer for Deepika. This is what we call a win-win situation!

Katrina Kaif travels around the world with the Khans

Please share Bookmark and Share

In a year, Katrina Kaif has virtually travelled around the world. In 2011, the Bollywood star flagged off Kabir Khan’s spy thriller, Ek Tha Tiger, co-starring Salman Khan, in Ireland. She then moved with the Yash Raj production to Turkey, then India and is currently filming it in Havana.
“The Cuba schedule has gone off well,” says the 26-year-old actor who has earlier worked with Kabir in New York (2009) and Salman in films like Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya (2005), Partner (2007), Yuvvraj (2008), Tees Maar Khan (2010, he appeared in a song) and Bodyguard (2011, she appeared in the title track). “Together, we make a fabulous team. There is still some work left and we plan to wrap up the film that has been locked for an Eid release, in Thailand.”

From there, if time permits, Katrina will fly back to Mumbai. She was in the city late last year for 10 days to film the Agneepath chartbuster,Chikni Chameli… and a couple of TV commercials for brands she endorses. After that, she moved to Delhi to complete the on-going schedule for Ek Tha Tiger, and air-dashed to London for a brief holiday with her mother and sisters around Christmas and New Year.

After touching down in Mumbai early this year, she shot with Shah Rukh Khan for Yash Chopra’s untitled Diwali release for a couple of days before taking off to Havana, Cuba. Before air- dashing to London now for Yash Chopra’s directorial comeback that went on the floors on January 9, she will complete the Thailand schedule of Kabir’s film.

The third schedule of Yash Chopra’s romantic movie will be in Kashmir. But Katrina won’t be camping in India for too long because around December, Karan Johar’s Dostana sequel will roll in London, giving her another chance to celebrate Christmas and bring in the New Year at home. “Over the last one year, I’ve practically covered the globe,” Katrina admits.

“It’s fun to shoot in London because I get to spend time with my mum and sisters. Christmas this year was so much fun, we caught up after ages.”

Earlier, this year, she performed with Shah Rukh at the Colors’ Screen Awards in Mumbai. It was their first stage performance together. Quiz her on it and she says, “He’s a wonderful co-star and a thorough gentleman. We’ve shot together briefly and Shah Rukh made me really comfortable on the sets. From the feedback I’ve got, people like our pairing and performance.”

Katrina Kaif wants an arranged marriage

Katrina Kaif might have got her share of success at the box office but the same cannot be said about her love life. After staying in Salman Khan's shadows for several years, problems had hit paradise.

Following the big Khan fallout on Kat's birthday, the actress too had decided to give up on her romance with the Khan. Following her first big breakup, the actress who was having a good time in Ranbir Kapoor's arms on screen was reportedly enjoying it off-screen as well.

Tired of her romantic failures, Katrina has now decided to stay away from industry wallahs in matters of the heart. In fact, Mumbai Mirror has learnt, that the actress has asked her mother to 'arrange' a suitable boy for her.

A close friend of the actress revealed, "Katrina has told her mother to find her a guy. She has decided to go with whatever 'momma says'."

This decision comes in the wake of rumours about Katrina and her ex-flame Ranbir Kapoor rekindling their romance. Katrina, currently in London, is not amused with the stories about her and Ranbir floating around. And though the actress was unavailable for comment, her friend explained, "Katrina is done with Ranbir. She didn't want to spend time with him and that's why decided to opt out of Ayaan Mukerji's film. In fact, Katrina will not consider offers to be cast opposite Ranbir in the near future."

As far as love is concerned, Katrina is done with Bollywood actors. "No looking for or falling in love in the film industry for Katrina. She has learnt the hard way that love is a rare commodity in the industry. She wants to avoid any more emotional stress in the future and just focus on her work. No emotional involvement with co-stars, no matter what the temptation," added the friend.

Kareena ousts Kat to bag KJo-Balaji film

Please share Bookmark and Share

In December last year, Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor, the filmmakers who are also best friends, had announced their co-production venture. However, the leading lady for the ambitious project remained undecided. Reportedly, Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were both being considered for the project. And now, Mumbai Mirror has learnt that Bebo has won the battle.

Kareena, who had reportedly opted out of two major projects - Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express and Milan Luthria's Once upon A Time In Mumbaai Part 2 recently, surely had bigger plans up her sleeve. A source close to the film told the newspaper, "Kareena has bagged a very big role in this film. Currently, she is Karan's favourite. He was very happy with her performance in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, directed by Shakun Batra."

In fact, Karan and Ekta have apparently had plans to work together for a very long time. The film that has finally realised their dream will be directed by newbie Akshay Roy. It will go on floors by December, this year.

Karan and Ekta, who have been meeting rather frequently to discuss the film, plan to finish the casting of their co-production by the end of this month.

Our source revealed, "Both Balaji and Dharma are considering Emraan Hashmi for the male lead. In fact, Emraan has recently signed his first Dharma production to be directed by Rensil D'Silva."

Katrina can't dance: Pandit Birju Maharaj

Please share Bookmark and Share

He is a living legend alright, but humility could well be Pandit Birju Maharaj's middle name. The maestro credits all his amazing feats to "the blessings of Lord Krishna and the love of the people of this country."

The maestro has quite a sense of humour. Asked to rate today's B-Town heroines on their dancing ability, he wittily remarks, "Just the other day, I was watching Katrina Kaif on TV. Us ko naachna nahi, hilna bolte hai! Today's heroines have no personality and can't carry a dance on their own shoulders. They are nowhere in the same league as Waheeda Rehman or Meena Kumari and think that whatever they do is the right thing."

In Vadodara for a performance, the maestro shares, "I salute Gujarat because my Lord Krishna took this route on his way to Dwarka."

Coming back to films, the maestro, who has worked for films like Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Dil To Pagal Hai and Devdas, shares, "It was a pleasure to work with Madhuri Dixit, who attended my workshops twice. She has no ego hassles and even after a dance sequence was okayed, she asked for suggestions. I get many offers to choreograph for films but turn most of them down. Recently, I taught Kamal Haasan a few Kathak steps for his film Vishwaroopam. He is a very eager learner." With a hearty laugh, he adds, "I ask a director, heroine kapde pehnegi na? I can't imagine a song choreographed by me being presented in a vulgar way. I would never do songs with lyrics like 'kursi ke neeche' or 'khatiye ke upar'. See, Helen never looked vulgar while doing all those cabaret songs. Today, to sell films, directors end up showing women dancing to cabaret songs even in jungles. It looks terrible."

About his experience of working with youngsters, the maestro says, "Even if five percent of the students that we teach end up pursuing the form seriously, it's heartening. God has blessed me with this ability to teach Kathak in a simple manner to kids and I will keep doing it till my last breath." Remembering his early days, the maestro shares, "At the age of six, I was employed by the Nawab of Rampur and earned `21 as salary. On days, the Nawab would send for me even as late as 2.30 am because he wanted to watch me perform. I remember my sister putting kajal in my eyes, while I would want to go back to sleep! I didn't wish the Nawab well at such times. I gave my first public performance at the age of seven in front of legends at Delhi and since then, I have never looked back."

Remembering his late uncle Lachhu Maharaj, a legend in own right, he says, "I remember he would keep telling me to move to Mumbai. But my mother asked me what would happen to our family tradition. And I never thought of it again. When he (Lachhu Maharaj) passed away, I asked for a rare book on Kathak that he had to keep with me."

On a parting note, he says, "Come what may, our classical art forms are very rich and they will withstand all kinds of onslaught from Western forms."

Deepika replaces Kareena in Chennai Express!

Please share Bookmark and Share

If all goes well, Deepika might be Shah Rukh Khan's co-passenger in the Rohit Shetty directed journey

The collaboration of Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty made Chennai Express one of the 'hottest' films to watch out for. After a short period of indecision regarding the casting of either Katrina Kaif or Kareena Kapoor as the leading lady in the film, SRK's RA.One heroine and Rohit's favourite, Bebo had emerged victorious.

In fact, the actress had even said in an interview, "Rohit and I are finalising the script and other details. Rohit is like family, and I am seriously looking forward to working with him again." However, her enthusiasm regarding the project has been rather short-lived. Mumbai Mirror has learnt that Kareena, once happy to be a part of the project, has excused herself from it. Reason: the generic 'date problems'.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone, who has recently been in the news for leaving Race 2 producer Ramesh Taurani in a mess by walking out of the project midway, has been asked to come on board Chennai Express.

A friend of Kareena, confirmed that the actress is no longer a part of the film and added, "Kareena has already informed Rohit Shetty that she wouldn't be able to work in Chennai Express. SRK is aware of it as well."

As for Deepika's inclusion in the Rohit Shetty film, a source close to the project said, "Deepika has given her nod of consent. The official signing should happen soon."

Katrina K, Deepika P back in Ranbir's life

Please share Bookmark and Share

The two actresses will have to learn to co-exist...

It's that time of life when history repeats himself. Just a little while ago, Ranbir Kapoor who was touted to be Casanova, was single and ready to mingle. Deepika Padukone and he broke up, he was linked to Katrina Kaif and suddenly news of his and Nargis Fakhri were doing the rounds. And then nothing!

Now, it - or should we say 'they all'? - all seems to be coming back! Deepika and Ranbir have buried the hatchet, and are even working together in Ayaan Mukherjee's film. And post that we get to hear Kat and Ranbir are an item again! Result: Deepika and Katrina re-enter the Kapoors life in a sort of role reversal.

When Deepika was Ranbir's girlfriend, Katrina was his co-star. This time, Deepika is his co-star and Katrina is allegedly his girlfriend! Wethinks the Kapoor lad's life just got a tad wee interesting all over again.

And as for Ranbir, Deepika and Katrina fans, we're sure they're waiting to see in which way the wind blows, and which spark will go off where. In matters of the heart and showbiz, one can never tell...
