Clicking on the names of your favourite star could end up crashing your PC
She may be sweet as sugar, but Katrina Kaif has been named India's most dangerous celebrity.
Confused? Cyber criminals often use the names of popular celebrities to lure people to sites that are actually laden with malicious software. Anyone looking to download the latest videos or pictures of their favourite celebrity could end up with a malware-riddled computer instead of trendy content.
Says Venkatasubra-hmanyam Krishnapur, Senior Director, McAfee India, "Malicious software within these sites are designed to steal your passwords, bank details and personal information. Cyber criminals are now also disguising malicious software in shortened URLs that can spread virally on social networking sites. Consumers should be careful when searching for their favourite celebrity on social networking platforms."
